np.asscalar is deprecated as of numpy 1.16

There's only one use in the Array constructor as far as I can tell:

And if I'm honest, I don't even totally remember what it is accomplishing there.

It looks like it is used to set up the "size" attribute. I think that line is executed, because I've seen recent CI warnings that seem to be due to that.
